New version of Smart Sort Premium
One of the most powerful WordPress Plugins is about to get a new lease on life. We’ve rewritten the entire SSP code implemented a fantastic new user interface and added a host of new features (full details in final release due next week).

We figured it was time to spruce up the site’s theme a bit and hope the new version will be easier to use and more visually appealing – Taking a leave from the minimalists cap. New site release due next week.

Just got done tonight with the new functionality of theme creation using the Jquery UI Theme Roller and it’s so sweet! So everything is going along nicely for a weekend release.

I’m hoping to put this on a bunch of our wp sites. Any ideas on features? Fingers crossed for standard CSS controlled menus rather than drop downs and built in randomise your posts function for sorting would be awesome. Cant wait to see it.

Yeh, the new version is pretty much done. I ran into a few snags with one of the external libraries I’m using (fg-menu) which is still in production so I’m fixing a few issues and adding some needed features. Hoping to get it all out by the 20th.

I see on an earlier post that you were hoping to have the new version ready by the 20th of September… Any news on when it will be ready? Is this new version going to work with wp v2.8? Any updates you can give on the new version would be great as I (and many others) would like to use this with our sites that have 2.8 running. I am READY and willing to buy the pemium version once I can get it to work on my 2.8 site without the widget… Thanks for your response and thanks for a great plugin!

The new version is not out yet so the problem you’re describing is known and is corrected in the new version.

Yes the new version is actually only 2.8 compatible and won’t support earlier versions or WP. I’m busy sneaking in an additional feature offering search suggestions to the user, so hopefully won’t take too long.

If I could, I’d say hold off on the search suggestion feature. There are quite a few existing plugins that offer such functionality. When your plugin worked, it offered sortation features that no other plugin did. That’s all most of us are looking for. Be the best at that, and save the fluff for other plugins.
What Travis said – could really do with that new version but you’re obviously having problems. Any idea when it will be ready? Won’t hold you to it!
@ Andrew, @Travis. Thanks for the comments, the search suggest is a bit ambitious so I’ve shelved it for now, and have built in compatibility with Urban Giraffe’s Search Unleashed Plugin (Most popular WP Search Plugin). The plugin release is now basically done and I should be able to email you both a beta version tomorrow.

Noticed that you mentioned sending a beta copy to a couple of other authors here and I was wondering if you could possibly send me one as well. I am running the free version now and I am ready to pull the trigger and order the premium when available, so if I could get a beta copy to test, that would be great!! Thanks!
