DyasonHat Closed!

To all our clients and supporters we regret to inform you that DyasonHat is now closed.

I just finished catching up some sorely missed WordPress.tv watching and was interested in some of the points Matt mentioned in his interview. As a plugin developer I’m always interested in hearing about the implementation of the WordPress platform since it serves as a rough guide as to the potential of where my plugins could end up being used.

I must admit after listening to the interview I’m enjoying fantasizing about whether somewhere in the CIA some is using smart sort or category dropdown plugin to navigate a top-secret blog.

And hearing that about 50% percent of WordPress users now implent it as a CMS speaks volumes for need for EASY to use and install CMS type plugins.

For a while now I’m been considering going GPL with with my premium plugin and have recently begun the search for a way of implementing a WP-ecommerce type way of providing the core free & GPL compatible and then selling premium modules to keep the cash flow going (a programmers got to eat as well). This interview has really helped me realize the need for this course of action.

All in all the interview provides a good reference point to send ‘lay’ users to go and understand what WordPress can be used for and for the rest of us developers, reassurance that our favorite platform is ticking along nicely!

New version of Smart Sort Premium

One of the most powerful WordPress Plugins is about to get a new lease on life. We’ve rewritten the entire SSP code implemented a fantastic new user interface and added a host of new features (full details in final release due next week).

New DyasonHat.com

We figured it was time to spruce up the site’s theme a bit and hope the new version will be easier to use and more visually appealing – Taking a leave from the minimalists cap. New site release due next week.

Plugin Support Live Again

After a shamefully long period of neglect towards plugin issues I’m happy announce that support is now active and on track again.

New Plugin & Slow Support

As many WordPress fans are aware the plugin competition over at weblogtoolscollection.com is underway, each year I’ve watched the competition come and go and have been thrilled at whats come out of it.

Well this year I’ve decided to enter, I’ve had a plugin in mind for nearly a year now that I haven’t had the guts to actually tackle, it’s actually a plugin I wonder why no one else hasn’t done. Any way I’ve spend the last month planning it, looking at various open source libraries to incorporate and generally just learning more on the subject that will make this plugin fly.

I’m not anouncing just yet what it’s going to be, I’ll at least what untill I have more than just the install class written (yay! that parts’s done). I’m confident that this could be a competition finalist if I stick at it and incorporate all the features I want to, so currently I have a lot of enthusiasm.

The downside is, as many of the users of my other plugins have already found out is that the support for the other plugins is a little slow at the moment, still going, but slow. Sorry to all those who are wanting quick fixes etc, I’m trying to get to them but since the competition ends July 31st and I’m trying to code something that an entire team should be doing you’ll hopefully forgive me my human trait of a need for sleep.

Cheers!

Accommodation Sphere

Well its been a LONG time coming, we first annouced this project under the name of Easy Map Info with the idea of being free to branch out it various avenues with. Since then we’ve scaled down the scope and increased the depth and pleased to annouce our completion of the the travel accommodation site Accommodation Sphere.

It’s currently running WP 2.6 with a host of custimized plugins, which I’ll write about in coming weeks. The site is straining it’s mysql database to bits right now so I’m anticipating a couple of crashes as it get crawled by the search engine.

But for now it live! *party*

DyasonHat launches new development blog

The DyasonHat site/blog went live today, the ultimate goal of this site will be to showcase the development portfolio and manage current projects. Clients will have a user friendly interface to view, test and comment on work currently being developed. Prospective clients can browse the growing portfolio of projects.

The Wordpress platform has been selected for this site after much consideration of the many CMS and Blog platforms out there, its ability for customization, security and easy of use and well as ‘light weight’ maintainence won over the others.
